How to Get Here

You can find taxis at our airport in the center section of the lower level curbside, adjacent to the North and South parking garages (follow the Ground Transportation signs). Service runs from first flight departure to last flight arrival. You can find some quick tips here.

Getting to Richmond

Please note that all of the directions below are to the Greater Richmond Conference Center. For directions from Downtown Richmond to your conference hotel, please contact your hotel, or reference the map on the Accommodations page.

Flying to Richmond, VA

Richmond International Airport (15 minutes from downtown) offers world-wide connections and more than 20 non-stop domestic flights on seven major airlines: low cost carriers AirTran and JetBlue; international carrier Air Canada; American Airlines, Delta, United and US Airways. Taxi and car service is available to travel from the airport to Downtown Richmond:
The average taxi to one of the conference hotels will cost $35 one way. You can find taxis at the airport in the center section of the lower level curbside, adjacent to the North and South parking garages (follow the Ground Transportation signs).
Mon-Fri Bus service between the airport and downtown Richmond is available until 5:21PM via GRTC #56 Bus
Sat-Sun Richmond Region Tourism will provide shuttle bus service from the airport to the convention hotels from 8:00AM-8:30PM.
There will be an IPAC'15 Welcome Desk set up at airport Baggage Claim to assist you.
The coach will leave the airport every 30 minutes on the hour and half-hour, so please plan accordingly.
Fri, May 8th

Richmond Region Tourism will provide shuttle bus service from the convention center to the airport from 3:00PM-6:00PM.
Baggage check will be available at the convention center for visitors checking out Friday morning.

Sat, May 9th For visitors planning to attend the Saturday tour of Jefferson Lab and Colonial Williamsburg, the shuttle bus will stop at the airport in the evening (approximately 8pm) on the way back from Williamsburg.

Flying to Washington D.C.

Getting to Richmond by Car:

  • You can land at Dulles International Airport or Reagan International Airport
  • Driving directions from Dulles to the Greater Richmond Convention Center can be found here: Directions
  • Driving directions from Reagan to the Greater Richmond Convention Center can be found here: Directions
  • It is approx. a two hour drive from D.C. to Richmond without traffic
    • This time can increase significantly due to traffic, especially in the evening (between 3-7pm EST), please plan accordingly
  • Parking fees at the conference hotels range from $8-$17 per day for self-park and $18-$26 per day for valet parking

Getting to Richmond by Train:


Reagan International Airport to Amtrak Train station:
  • Board the Metrorail Yellow Line toward Huntington (Click here for details)
  • Exit the Metro Station at King St-Old Town (two stops down) and enter the Amtrak station next door
  • Metrorail fare is approx. $2.50 each way and takes approx. 10 minutes

Dulles International Airport to Amtrak Train station (Click here for details):
  • Board the Silver Line Express Bus (departs every 15-20 minutes from Arrivals Level Door 4) to the Metrorail Silver line at Wiehle-Reston East (Printer-friendly directions)
  • Take the Metrorail Silver line to Metro Center
  • Board the Metrorail Red line towards Glenmont
  • Exit the Metrorail at Union Station. The Amtrak station is located inside Union Station
  • The Silver Line Express costs $5 each way. Metro fare is approx. $4 each way and the trip takes approx. 50 minutes

Amtrak Train to Greater Richmond Convention Center:
  • There are a couple trains heading south to Richmond from either Union Station or King St.

  • Amtrak ticket prices range from $22-$79 one-way, and $44-$150 round-trip and takes approx. 3 hours
  • Disembark at the Richmond Main Street Station (approx. two hours from D.C.) From here you can walk or take a bus:
  • From the Main Street Station to the Greater Richmond Convention Center is approx. a one mile/25 minute walk passing in front of the historic Virginia State Capitol Building
    From the Main Street Station to the Greater Richmond Convention Center is a 15 minute bus ride via the GRTC #52/53 bus
  • Please Note: There are limited trains going from Richmond to D.C., please take this into account for your journey home:
